While perusing the best metal blog on the internet (this one) I found a link to a full album stream from a band called Nightrage. I'd never listened to them before now, but holy shit are they ever awesome. Their new album is the album that In Flames would have made this year if they hadn't turned to complete shit after Clayman. So yeah check that out here.
Oh and also there's a new This Is Hell track. It turns out that This Is Hell are a hardcore band that doesn't sound like a bunch of douchebags that think it's still 1999. Check it out!

Stoner Saturday
Saturday's theme is Stoner Saturday, and while this blog does not in any way encourage the use of any illicit substances, I don't doubt that the musicians behind the songs I'll be featuring on Saturdays love them some sweet mary jane. Today's song is:

The Awesome Report
In this little piece, I'm going to give you a little taste of my musical preferences, and what I've been listening to lately. We're going to go through this fast, so here's five awesome bands!
1. Animals As Leaders
A lot of old school metalheads and traditionalists will tell you that djent is poser bullshit. Well, I don't listen to a lot of djent, but I do know that Animals As Leaders are fucking awesome. Combining tech-shred with beauty in a way that no one ever has, this young band (created and led by guitar wunderkind Tosin Abasi) is the real deal.
The list continues after the break!

Forlorn Friday
Every day I post a song according to the day's theme. The Friday theme is "Forlorn Friday" which means post-metal and metalgaze. "Why be forlorn on a Friday?" You ask me, "Fridays," you insist, "Are for partying." Clearly you have a lot to learn because in metal, every day is for partying. If you're going to be forlorn, Friday is just is good as any other day. Besides, Friday and forlorn both start with an "f". The song for today is...

...And the kvlt fans wept.
I was on Amazon.ca looking at a coffee table book called True Norwegian Black Metal (I'm not being paid to say that), and there was a little underbar asking "Looking for other Black Metal products?" The products listed in the underbar contained both Renihilation and Aesthetica by Liturgy.
And the black metal purists shook their fists at their computer screens in anger.
Rock and Roll Thursday
Every morning, I post a song according to the daily theme. The Thursday theme is Rock 'n Roll, and the song for today is......

Wednesday of DEATH
Every day of the week I give you a song according to the theme of the day. Wednesday's theme is death metal. So I thought about which of the various sub-sub-sub genres to pull a song out of for this video and I decided to go for a track that is just straight up death metal, no hyphens necessary. Enjoy:
Feel free to let me know why this is actually progessive tech-thrash with death undertones in the comments below!

Metal Monday
Every morning, I'm going to post a song according to the daily theme. Monday's theme is Metal Monday. Now, technically everything I post could fall under the category of metal, but Metal Monday is going to showcase the very best of classic Heavy Metal. Let me give you a taste of what I mean:
You're welcome.

My Summer Playlist
Today I made a playlist for my ipod by going through every single one of my songs and picking the ones I felt like listening to at that moment. It took a while but I think it's a decent summary of both what I like and what I've been listening to lately. It's pretty damn long, so I'll post it after the break.
